Cycle

Welcome back to another entry of Bonnie's poetry! I'll have you know I've written  this catchy song with lyrics, and if you're lucky it will be delivered next week.

This week's poem is about the repetitive cycle of life. This will be executed in metaphorical language involving trees and scallywags carving hearts into them...

Well, I'd consier it to be a really heart-felt poem, with a tree motif and repetitiveness (which also reflects on the repetitive life cycle). The trees are influenced by nature and man-made disasters, it's all about how the trees feel. When they die, there are fresh baby sprouts that have to go through the same thing. Makes you wonder why life is worth living...

Cycle

These dry hollow trees,
with hearts etched in from sprouting age.
Withered, with only hearts to hold strong.

These dry hollow trees,
scorned by fire and whispers from the ghostly winds.
Their hearts burst into fire.

These dry hollow trees,
now defined by a burial of charcoal.
Phlegmatic hearts, watching the world through the eyes of flames.

These fresh baby sprouts,
surrounded by old charcoal, magnetising idling hearts.
These new trees with hold strong, for now.
